My Gear
My main kit. Comprising 10", 12", 13", 14" and 16" toms, a 14" snare and a 22" bass drum. This allows me a variety of setups to suit the gig. With the aid of coated Remo Emperors on the toms, coated Ambassador on the snare and a clear Powerstroke 3 on the bass drum, the kit produces a warm yet powerful and punchy tone.
This is my jazz kit. Comprising 12" and 14" toms, a 14" snare and 18" bass drum. With coated Remo Ambassadors on the toms, a Fibreskyn 3 on the snare and a clear pinstripe on the bass drum, this kit is great for jazz gigs and settings which call for more of a vintage vibe.
Sabian 22" HHX Manhattan Jazz ride, 17" HHX Legacy crash, 16" HHX Evolution crash, 13" HHX Groove Hats, 10" Pro China Splash, 20" Stagg DH Jazz ride, 20" Super Zyn ride and a few other bits 'n' bobs.
I have a wide range of hand percussion, including tambourines, maracas, shakers, bongos, congas, djembe and much more.
14" Premier Steel snare, great for rockier tracks.
13" Pearl Brass Piccolo, generally used as an auxillary snare, tight and poppy.
Sontronics STC-1S, Shure SM57, Beyerdynamic M201N(C), AKG D112, Alesis iO26, Presonus Studio One 2, Windows 7.
My electric kit. Mostly used for practice thanks to its comparatively low noise! The kit comprises bass, snare, 3 toms, 2 crashes, hats and a ride.
Whilst it may not be the latest and greatest, the kit is more than capable of live performance, especially when paired with one of the many sample packages on the market. It also allows me to record midi for a flexible session take and more sounds than you can shake a drum stick at!
All my go to sticks, brushes, multi-rods and mallets are Regal Tip. I've been using them for many years, almost exclusively.
